New Look’s group buying director for footwear and accessories Malcolm Collins has left the retailer after almost 16 years.

It is understood that Collins has left through mutual agreement, and he stepped back from the business last week.

There are no immediate plans to replace the role - a critical one within New Look which has made gerat strides in its footwear offer in recent years - while the retailer looks at the structure of the team.

In the meantime, the day-to-day running of the department will be overseen by group sourcing and menswear director Philip Walker and Carolyn MacKenzie, group merchandising director.

In an internal announcement seen by Drapers, Anders Kristiansen thanked Collins for his “fantastic contribution” to the company and for putting the New Look brand “firmly on the map”.

“Having a plan in place to put the footwear department back on track, Malcolm feels now is a good time to explore new opportunities,” added Kristiansen.

Collins joined New Look in July 1997.

New Look declined to comment on Collins’ departure.
