ProCook has committed to pay all staff “at least” the real living wage, which the group said “reflects its ongoing investment in its people”.
The specialist retailer will offer a minimum of £12.00 per hour to all colleagues, regardless of age, while staff in London will receive £13.15 per hour from April 1.
The pay increase is ahead of current inflation and the upcoming change to the national living wage in April, which will be set at £11.44.
The real living wage is set by the Living Wage Foundation each year and calculates the minimum rate of pay for workers in the UK in line with the cost of living.
ProCook has also increased its annual leave allowance for staff, up to a maximum of 30 days, to “encourage a healthier approach to rest and reduce stress.”
ProCook chief executive Lee Tappenden said: “The market-leading service ProCook customers receive is entirely delivered by our incredible colleagues in our retail stores and our store support centre.
“We believe in rewarding our people fairly and treating them respectfully, so they’re happy and motivated in their work each day.
“By signing up to the real living wage, we are ensuring that everyone who works at ProCook can earn a wage that meets their everyday needs.
“As a B Corp, we continue to prioritise our people, and our commitment to the Living Wage Foundation aligns with our value of doing the right thing for our customers and our colleagues, as well as helping us deliver on our business strategy by setting us apart as one of the best employers in the sector.
“We are very proud to be part of a select group of retailers who offer this level of remuneration.”
