Wilko is continuing its rollout of new concept stores across the UK with two new stores set to open in spring.
A new Wilko store is set to open in The Maltings, St Albans, and another will open in Parkgate Shopping Park, Rotherham.
Launch dates and timings will be announced soon, as well as announcements of further store openings.
Three Wilko stores opened in December in Plymouth, Exeter and Luton, which the group said have seen “early signs of strong trading.”
The reaction to the concept stores, as well as thousands of customers returning to the newly re-launched wilko.com, has given the company confidence to grow plans to reintroduce Wilko back onto UK high streets.
The new website features over 50,000 products for customers to browse, plus next day delivery and flexible payment terms.
Alex Simpkin, chief executive of CDS Superstores, which owns Wilko and The Range, said: “The initial reaction to the new concept stores has been even better than we’d hoped.
“We’ve seen queues of both returning and new customers at the store launches and the feedback is giving us the confidence we need to continue with our store opening plans.
“We’re in advanced negotiations with a number of landlords and are continuing to review all options as a part of our roll-out plan.
“Any interested agents or landlords should get in touch.
“Meanwhile, we’ll continue to endeavour to give ex-wilko employees priority as a part of the recruitment process for the new stores,” Simpkin said.
