Alworths is working with Episys to help push its value message with promotional signage across its stores. The retailer – set up by former Woolworths director Andy Latham – has set up an Immediate Impact system to allow it to produce appropriate signage in each of its shops.
Alworths will pay for the signage on a pay-as-you-go basis, and will introduce it to each shop as they open without any integration work necessary. It will also be used to produce all low-level promotional and brand point-of-sale signage.
Episys previously supplied Woolworths with its signage technology.
Alworths operations manager Andy Hayzelden said: “It’s really important for us to have great signage that will assist us with brand-building. Whatever store a customer goes to, all signage will look good, informative and consistent.”
He added that the system will give the retailer great flexibility. For example, if the retailer gets hold of stock at short notice, its stores can produce appropriate signage in minutes.
Alworths will open its first shop in Didcot, Oxfordshire, on November 5, with a further four to open by the end of the year, and 17 more in early 2010. The shop will stock most of what Woolworths sold, with less entertainment and more of a focus on toys and general merchandise.
Alworths has already revealed that it will be using a retail system from Futura to handle EPoS, planning and merchandising, and will use it as a business intelligence tool to create business reports.
