Argos is looking to bring Christmas wish lists into the digital space this festive season, with an app that allows children to build wish lists for Santa Claus.
Aimed at three to seven-year-olds, the app will include animated characters - called Mo, Stik, Gil, Squidge and Fly - to help guide children in building their present wish lists on a smartphone or tablet. It also includes settings that can be controlled by parents such as price and present limits.
Before choosing from more than 3,000 toys on offer at Argos, children must select a character, add their name to the list and take a photo of themselves.
Once the list is complete, it is sent to parents’ email account and can be shared with friends and family.
The app was devised during a two-day hackathon event at Argos’s digital hub in Victoria, London.
It aims to blur the line between the digital and analogue worlds, as part of the retailer’s wider goal of becoming a truly digital business. It is available on both iOS and Android operating systems.
