Quirky fashion retailer Ted Baker plans to ramp up its global presence with the launch of a US transactional website next month.
The new website, which is due to go live early in October, will sell menswear, womenswear and accessories and will be “tailored to the US market”, according to the retailer. It will have a range of delivery options, including next day and parcel tracking. It will also offer a live web chat facility for customer service queries.
The website will support the retailer’s US store opening programme. It is set to open a store in New York’s Meat Packing district in early November, followed by the opening of a Chicago store in mid-November. The retailer already has 13 stores in the US. It is also understood to be launching into India, a new market for the retailer, in 2012.
Ted Baker is also launching a digital campaign in the UK and US to support its expansion programme. This includes a film on its website, where customers can also enter a prize draw and sign up for updates on the new launch.
Ted Baker declined to reveal further details of the potential for the US market but said it would make additional announcements at its interims in October.
