Tesco-owned One Stop has snapped up 33 stores from Spar operator Alfred Jones as part of its plans to grow the convenience fascia.
The acquisition of the stores, all in the North West, brings the total One Stop shop count to 682 across England and Wales.
Alfred Jones is an established Spar retailer operating convenience stores and forecourt sites located predominantly in the North West.
One Stop chief executive Tony Reed said: “Having over 20 years experience in the convenience market puts us in a good position to help neighbourhoods thrive. With the purchase of these stores, we can introduce One Stop’s quality, great value, range and service to customers in new communities. We will also invest in store refurbishment to improve the shopping experience for our customers.”
The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to complete later in the year, comes after One Stop acquired the 77-strong Mills Group estate in December 2010.
