Tesco is expanding its web business by launching online grocery in Thailand next month, followed by is Chinese internet debut in the spring.
The grocer, which has a presence in 13 countries, has been introducing the online offer to capital cities before pushing the button on a wider roll-out. The next major city it will focus on will be Bangkok in the few weeks, according to The Independent.
Tesco already has online operations in Warsaw in Poland, Bratislava in Slovakia, Prague in the Czech Republic as well as in Ireland and South Korea.
Thailand is one of Tesco’s most significant overseas markets where it has 1,257 stores which generate annual sales of more than £3bn.
The supermarket will also launch online in Shanghai in May. It has 120 stores in China, although it had been cautious with its expansion in the Asian nation in recent years.
