Off licence chain Thresher Group has ditched tentative plans to drop the Haddows name from its Scottish store portfolio.
The group began trialling its c-store format The Local at four rebranded Haddows shops earlier this year, with the Haddows name in small print on the fascia.
A Thresher spokeswoman said sales at the stores had been 'good', but feedback indicated that loyalty to the original brand was stronger than expected.
The Local, selling groceries, ready meals and newspapers, alongside a core offer of alcohol and cigarettes, will be altered to feature the original name more prominently.
'We are working out what needs to change and we plan to adapt new stores on an individual basis. They won't all look the same,' the spokeswoman said.
Thresher has also launched Flavour, an in-store magazine aimed at young shoppers.
