Westfield London, the capital's newest shopping centre, has had more than two million visits in just over three weeks, greatly exceeeding expectations of its Australian owners.

Westfield London's success comes against the backdrop of the economic downturn. Few shops at Westfield have opted to cut prices.

Footfall in London's West End, which Westfield was predicted to have an effect on, was up 2.1 per cent at the weekend, although it is unclear whether the tills recorded sales increasing by a corresponding amount.
