Garden centre group talking to potential suitors
Wyevale Garden Centres is considering its options again after it emerged that bankers for the business have resumed talks with would-be buyers.

Bankers led by Rothschild are talking to potential suitors, understood to include private equity firms Bridgepoint and Cinven.

Wyevale spent most of last year at the centre of bid speculation and a bitter boardroom battle against hostile shareholder Laxey Partners.

Veteran retailer Jim Hodkinson was installed as chairman recently and, earlier this month, Wyevale issued a statement saying: 'The board understands that one of the companies involved in the discussions last year about a potential sale of the company - which were terminated in October 2005 - continues to monitor the situation at the company and is considering its options.'

In the latest round of discussions, options are thought to include an auction or a return of capital to shareholders.
