In a statement, administrators Deloitte said: 'While discussions continue as regards the business, trading has ceased at this time as there is no certainty that any sale can be achieved.'
800 people will be made redundant as a result of the closures.
Music Zone went into administration on January 3, with Bill Dawson and Nick Dargan of Deloitte appointed as joint administrators.
Both the management and rival retailer Fopp are thought to have been in the running to buy the business.
On January 16, 31 of the retailer's stores were closed, making 325 employees redundant, including all some at the company's head office.
