Argos is testing a new mobile store format at this weekend’s Isle of Wight music festival.
The festival store will operate out of a specially adapted 60 ft trailer, selling 60 lines “focused on the needs of the festival goers”.
Remote payment systems will be used for the first time to sell camping equipment, barbecues, binoculars, camera memory cards and fancy dress outfits.
Argos operations director John Douglass said: “We will be following the festival store’s performance closely with a view to using the concept at other events.”
Staff and products will be supplied from the local Newport store.
Argos owner Home Retail Group was due to issue an interim management statement on June 11 as Retail Week went to press.
