The supermarket claims the move will mean that shoppers will save up to 20 per cent by switching from the competition.

Asda said it expects to sell 30,000 Lightning McQueen toys, a model from the Disney film Cars, in the run-up to Christmas as a result of the reductions. The toy is among the top toy sellers for the retailer to date, alongside the Bratz Princess and Diamondz dolls.
