The store will become the 12th Beales outlet and continues the retailer's growth strategy, the company said.
Located in The Forum, Beales expects completion and handover of the store by the end of May and that it will open for trading by the end of September.
It originally opened in 2003 and closed again in 2004.The store has been acquired directly from the landlord, Blue Investment Fund, and will trade from 33,500 sq ft (3,110 sq m). It will have a full department store offer, excluding furniture, brown and white goods.
'The acquisition represents an excellent addition to our store portfolio, particularly after the recent closure of our Walton store. We will offer an assortment that is not available elsewhere in the town,' said chief executive Allan Allkins.
