Blank was officially unveiled as the new chairman-in-waiting of Lloyds TSB Group today and will join the bank's board on March 1 2006, taking on the role of chairman at its AGM in May.
However, he will remain as chairman of GUS ahead of the Argos/Experian split, but has indicated that he will not undertake any continuing role in these businesses thereafter.
The GUS board said that it 'acknowledges Sir Victor's responsibilities as chairman of two FTSE 100 companies and believes that he will be able to devote sufficient time to his role at GUS'.
