Staff will share £6.5 million
Boots chief executive Richard Baker received more than£1 million in salary and bonuses last year, according to the company's annual report.

Baker, who joined Boots from Asda in 2003, was awarded a bonus of more than£477,000. He received£1.18 million in total, up from£1.02 million last year.

The health and beauty retailer also revealed that it would share£6.5 million among 35,000 workers. Full-time staff can expect up to£250 in shares.

The group's merger with pharmaceutical giant Alliance UniChem will become effective from July 31. The deal was given the green light by the Competition Appeals Tribunal last month and will save the company£100 million in cost savings.
