Selfridges is to invest up to £20m revamping its Manchester store to coincide with its 20th anniversary.
The Trafford Centre masterplan will transform most departments within the store and includes an overhaul of its beauty hall and the introduction of a new personal shopping suite, which launches next season.
The exact investment figure is yet to be finalised but the first phase of the masterplan kicks off this week and will transform the store’s ground floor beauty hall, adding 50% more space to the department. This will allow Selfridges to add new beauty brands from the UK and overseas.
A range of new beauty services, including Face Gym, which offers non-invasive facial workouts, and on-the-go treatments will also be introduced.
The revamped beauty hall is due to be completed in late 2018 and a range of bespoke customer events are planned as part of its launch.
Kidswear destination
Selfridges’ kidswear department is another area of investment.
The department store said the masterplan will create “an exciting new kidswear destination”, including a new infant gifting selection, featuring gifting brand My First Years.
As part of the overhaul, womenswear has moved to the upper floor of the Trafford store and a host of new exclusive and designer brands have been added, including Zadig & Voltaire and Ivy Park.
Selfridges’ Trafford general manager Vicki Cain said: “2018 is an extremely exciting year for us and our masterplan will ensure we are offering shoppers the very best in brands, services and in-store experiences.
“Our beauty hall is the first phase of the plan to get under way and we’re sure our customers will be delighted with what they’ll discover as our new destinations are unveiled during the year.”
