Dixons has hired a managing director for its Northern Europe business.
The retailer has hired chief executive of one of Scandinavia’s largest supermarket chains Rema Industrier Jaan Ivar Semlitsh to take charge of its Elkjøp and Electroworld businesses.
Elkjøp, which has over 300 stores across Norway,Sweden, Denmark and Finland, while Electroworld operates in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Last year, Elkjøp reported sales of £2.6bn and in the first quarter of the new financial year sales were up 13%.
Dixons Retail group chief executive Sebastian James said: “The strength of his retail and customer-facing experience across multiple sectors is superb, and he shares our absolute conviction that our place is shoulder to shoulder with our millions of customers.”
Semlitsh said: ” I am joining a business with an iconic portfolio of brands which resonate well with customers. I look forward to working with Sebastian and the team to further develop our Nordics business, particularly on the multichannel side.”
Semlitsh takes up the role on January 3, 2013.
