Dixons Carphone has bought Nordic service and repair company Infocare Workshop for £10m as it seeks to control the end-to-end customer service journey.
The deal is designed to allow Elkjøp, the Nordic division of Dixons Carphone, to offer high-quality repairs under the business’s KnowHow service brand.
Dixons Carphone group strategy director Andrew Lawley said: “People today are more dependent than ever on 24/7 connectivity and we know how vital it is to access fast, simple and reliable repairs when your tech goes wrong.”
Infocare Workshop has been Elkjøp’s partner for repairs of TVs, audio products, computers, tablets and cameras since 2007.
It employs 300 people, completes up to 400,000 repairs a year and has revenues in the region of NOK350m (£27m).
Infocare Workshop operates four repair sites, located in Kongsvinger (Norway), Helsinki (Finland) and Växjö and Linköping (Sweden).
Elkjøp is the market leader in electricals retailing in the Nordics and has a 27% market share through a combination of owned and franchise stores.
