Plus-size fashion chain Elvi has fallen into administration after the retailer failed to secure new investment.
Administrator Baker Tilly has been brought in just weeks after Langholm Capital, which bought the retailer for£10 million in October 2006, left the business. There are now fears that hundreds of shop workers could lose their jobs.
Elvi has 28 shops and 63 concessions in stores including Debenhams, House of Fraser and John Lewis.
Former White Company managing director Oliver Spark led the buyout with the hope of transforming the chain. However, rising costs and a slowdown in consumer spending has pushed Elvi to become the latest victim of the high street, with chains including Dolcis, The Works and Base Menswear also going bust in recent weeks.
