The US department store giant acquired Macy's through its purchase of The May Department Stores Company in August this year.
The retailer hopes by moving managers to Macy's before February it can push the division into new territories next year.
Federated is moving 8 senior managers through the ranks including Daniel Edelman who is currently chairman and chief executive of Macy's Northwest Seattle. He has been catapulted up the Macy's chain to become president and chief operating officer of Macy's West, which is based in San Francisco.
Jeff Gennette will be promoted to chairman and chief executive officer of Macy's Northwest from his position as executive vice president and director of stores at Atlanta-based Macy's Central.
Chairman, president and chief executive officer Terry Lundgren said: 'Enhancing our company's already strong talent pool was a key objective of the May acquisition and our announcements are a clear indication that we have made strides in that regard.'
'By retaining experienced executives from the May Company organisation and combining their skills with Federated's existing division leadership, we will strengthen our Macy's division as we grow to serve customers in new geographic regions across the country.'
The May company has 490 department stores and 720 bridal and formal wear outlets.
Federated, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last year, recorded sales of more then US$15.6 billion in 2004.
