Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days with updates from Ocado, Superdry and Dunelm on the agenda.

Ocado

Ocado announces its half-year results on Tuesday.

In February, the Ocado warehouse in Andover caught fire in what chief executive Tim Steiner described as a “temporary setback”. Despite the blaze, the etailer reported an 11.2% increase in revenue to £404m in its first quarter.

Ocado reported underlying 11.3% growth in average orders per week to 314,000, but the average order size was slightly down – by 0.2% to £110.24.

Superdry

Superdry posts its full-year results on Wednesday.

The fashion retailer was originally set to post its preliminary results last week but postponed the announcement following “recent management transition”.

Superdry said it would be making a “non-cash onerous lease and store impairment provision” in its full-year results, which will benefit the underlying profit before tax in this financial year.

As a consequence of ongoing work relating to the “complexity” of the accounting issues and the recent management change, Superdry agreed with its auditors that it was appropriate to delay its full-year results.

Dunelm

Dunelm posts its fourth-quarter results on Wednesday.

The homeware retailer recorded a 6.1% rise in group revenue year on year to £284.5m during the 13 weeks to March 30.

Like-for-like store sales grew 9.8% and the retailer’s online sales jumped 32.1% during the same period.

Dunelm’s gross margin rose 90 basis points in its third quarter, which the retailer said was “driven by the positive impact of closing the dilutive Worldstores businesses and an increase in the core business margin of approximately 40bps, driven by improved sourcing”.

Microsoft

Microsoft will open its flagship 22,000 sq ft store on London’s Oxford Circus on Thursday.

The store will cover three floors, providing an interactive space for shoppers to test and experience Microsoft’s latest technology, products and services.

Microsoft said the store will house “interactive zones surrounded by immersive video walls… designed to build connections with the local community, customers and businesses”.

It will also feature an ‘Answer Desk’, where customers can get tech support, repairs, training and advice from specialist staff, similar to Apple’s ‘Genius Bar’.
