The Hut Group is set to develop 1m sq ft of office and studio space, creating the biggest office space outside London.
The group, run by founder Matt Moulding, is ploughing $1bn into the project, which will support 10,000 jobs.
The development, the biggest ever in the North West, will be spread over two sites, with one comprising office space and the other studio space. The studio space will house content creation business Hangar 7, acquired by The Hut Group last year.
Construction on the development, named THQ, is set to begin next year.
Moulding said: “THQ is a landmark development for THG and another important step in our growth story.
“THQ and ICON cement our position as a significant player and employer in the UK and we look forward to expanding even further from here, attracting and retaining the most innovative and inventive talent from across the globe.”
The group’s growing technology team is moving to Salford’s MediaCityUK this month.
The etailer has expanded rapidly since its launch in 2004, doubling the number of staff to more than 4,000 in 2017, creating the need for more office space.
The Hut Group recently announced a record-breaking year. Gross profit increased by 51% to £318m in the year ending 31 December, 2017. It expects to increase its workforce by another 2,000 in 2018.
