Asda has appointed John Lewis Partnership director of shared services Richard Mayfield as its new chief financial officer.
The John Lewis director will replace Judith McKenna at Asda, who was promoted to chief operating officer at the grocer last autumn.
Mayfield oversees John Lewis Partnership’s IT, human resources, financial and procurement services, the Wall Street Journal reported. He was formerly finance director at Waitrose.
Asda acting chief financial officer Rob McWilliam will take a broader role as strategy director. McWilliam, who has been in post since McKenna’s promotion in September, will report to David Cheesewright who is responsible for Walmart’s operations in Canada, the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Mayfield does not yet have a start date but the grocer said McWilliam will continue to lead the finance team to ensure a smooth transition.
