Hilco hires turnaround chief

Corporate restructuring specialist Hilco UK has appointed Andrew Pepper chief operating officer.

Pepper joins from Kroll, where he was a partner. He has advised underperforming businesses for 16 years and was involved in the restructuring of Allders, Silverscreen, Morgan and Red Letter Days.

Pepper has also been appointed chief executive of a new business group called Hilco Commercial. The group is designed to extend the company's trading model beyond retail to invest in the restructuring and turnaround of distressed, non-retail businesses throughout the UK and Europe.

Hilco UK said that it would be recruiting investment directors and managers to accelerate its European growth, as well as considering new product offerings for institutional investors in both the retail and non-retail space.
