Britons are to spend £4.7bn on the high street and online in a post-Christmas spending spree, according to MoneySupermarket.com.
Boxing Day Sales will see four million shoppers descend on the high street, spending £2.9bn. 1.4 million people plan to shop online on Christmas Day.
The survey of more than 2,000 consumers suggests 22.6 million will shop online for post-Christmas discounts, with a further 24.61 million planning to visit the high street for the January Sales.
Of those shopping online on Christmas Day, searches are expected to peak between 1pm and 2pm.
Between December 27 and 31, 21% of consumers will visit the shops and another 16% will buy online.
A further 18% said they will wait until after January 1 to go to the high street Sales, while 12% plan to shop online after the New Year celebrations.
In total, Britons are expected to spend £4.7bn in post-Christmas Sales.
MoneySupermarket.com personal finance spokeswoman Clare Francis said: “Bargain hunters who are really keen to get the most out of their Sale spend are using the internet to search for the best deals as soon as they become available.”
