DFS has acquired smaller rival Sofa Workshop as it continues to strengthen its appeal to more aspirational consumers.
DFS said it is making a “modest investment” to acquire the upmarket 14-store retailer, which operates shops in well-heeled locations such as Chester, Harrogate and Chiswick.
A DFS spokeswoman said: “Sofa Workshop is a strong upholstery brand and this new brand partnership arrangement will serve to complement our existing product offer, as well as provide us with the opportunity to reach new customer segments.
“We continue to focus on ensuring that DFS offers something for everyone across all sections of the marketplace and this partnership builds on the success of our existing brand collaborations with French Connection, Country Living and House Beautiful, all of which continue to strengthen our appeal to more aspirational consumers.”
DFS EBITDA increased 4.9% to £86m in the year to July 27, when sales advanced 7.4% to £670.8m.
