Game’s French operation has gone into redressement judiciaire, a form of administration. The measure is protective, to allow the company up to six months in which to develop a turnaround plan following heavy losses by its UK parent.

The retailer expects to close at least 15 of its 197 stores and will look for ways to reduce overheads while strengthening multichannel operations.
