Walmart begins restructuring programme at its Japanese Seiyu subsidiary

Walmart has begun a restructuring programme at its Japanese Seiyu subsidiary that will lead to the retailer closing around 23 stores in the country.

Walmart said it would close about 23 outlets and “certain excess properties”. The retailer added: “This restructuring involves incurring costs associated with lease termination obligations, asset impairment charges and employee separation benefits.”
