Secondhand electronics have proven popular with Vinted’s customers

The Vinted app had previously enabled users to buy and sell a small selection of used electronics, such as video games, but the new dedicated category will allow for a wider range of items to be bought and sold.

Gaming consoles, audio devices such as speakers, headphones and earbuds, wearables such as fitness trackers and smartwatches, e-readers, virtual-reality devices, and accessories including cases and chargers, are all on offer.

Retail Week understands that while Vinted is always looking for new ways to reach customers, fashion will remain its core offering.

The new secondhand electronics category has been introduced after the small selection of used electronics on the app proved popular with customers.

A new seller dashboard feature is also available on the platform, providing a clear view of a user’s total earnings as well as insight into what they can earn from current listings.

The marketplace posted its first profit in 2023, reaching €17.8m (£15.2m), up from a net loss of €20.4m (£17.5m) the previous year.

Vinted also posted a 61% increase in revenue year on year to reach €596.3m (£510m), up from €370.2m (£317m) in 2022, and expanded into Europe with launches in Denmark, Finland and Romania.
