Twitter is mulling an ecommerce venture that could allow users to buy products directly from the site.
The social network is eyeing a tie-up with US ecommerce site Fancy, in which Twitter founder Jack Dorsey is an investor and sits on its board.
Leaked mock-ups published by technology blog Re/code show a new button called ‘buy with Fancy’ alongside a picture of a product.
Last year Twitter piloted a ‘pay by tweet’ option which allowed users to purchase an item by linking their account with their American Express card.
Rival Facebook tested a transactional initiative in 2012 called Gifts which allowed users to buy physical goods from the social network however poor demand caused the initiative to be scrapped last year.
Twitter’s losses in 2013 are estimate to have more than doubled to $140.9m and the social network giant may come under pressure from investors to produce new revenue streams.
