Australian retailer Target has poached Tesco commercial director Kanaiya Parekh to bolster its sourcing team.
Parekh, who has worked in the UK and India for Tesco and was most recently commercial director in India, will join Target as general manager sourcing – Asia operations.
His 16 years’ experience at Tesco is across category management, product development, supply chain operations, marketing, ecommerce and customer insights. He will report to Alister Jordan and will be based in the Hong Kong office.
Parekh’s appointment follows a string of new hires at the Australian retailer, under new boss Stuart Machin. This includes former Tesco clothing director Richard Jones, who joined as trading director, and former Shop Direct furniture and homewares buying and merchandising director Damian Walton who joined as homewares general manager.
Parekh was placed by recruitment specialist Clarity.
