24 hour opening only happened because the replenishment staff were in anyway, so the question was 'why not open?'. However, this incurs additional costs (service staff and security) and complications (keeping aisles clear, replen staff having to be trained on service), which make it unproductive, particularly in certain stores. This call is long overdue for some of Tesco's stores.
