Sachdev quits Tesco after 28 years
Sainsbury's has appointed Neil Sachdev to the newly created role of commercial director.

The former Tesco director will join the supermarket in March next year.

Sachdev held various positions at Tesco over a 28-year period, including supply chain director and retail director. Most recently, he was stores board director UK, responsible for a range of property and operational issues.

Sachdev will have a wide remit at Sainsbury's, initially focusing on procurement and he will report to trading director Mike Coupe. He will also join the company's new senior leadership team and sit on the retail board.

Sachdev also sits on the Board of the Institute of Grocery Distribution.
