Battersea Power Station has recorded its “strongest summer to date” as footfall increased due to new brands, events, installations and pop-ups.
Footfall at the shopping destination grew by 17% year on year from mid-July to the end of August.
Fashion brands did particularly well at Battersea Power Station and on Electric Boulevard, the adjacent riverside pedestrianised high street, with sales up 21% year on year during the same period.
Total visitor numbers have exceeded 22 million since the landmark opened to the public in October 2022.
Visitors flocked to Battersea between June and August for events and installations including The Battersea Games, which invited members of the public to take part in sports, games and exercise classes.
More than 70 pop-up brand activations also took place at the destination, while sports fans could watch the Olympics, Paralympics and Wimbledon on the big screen.
During the first half of 2024, Battersea Power Station averaged a new brand opening every month, totalling 150 across a range of shops, restaurants, bars and leisure venues.
Marks & Spencer will also open its first-ever standalone clothing store at the Power Station in November 2024, in addition to openings for Blank Street Coffee and other restaurants and leisure operators.
Battersea Power Station head of asset management Sam Cotton said: “Battersea Power Station has gone from strength to strength since its opening in 2022.
“We’re consistently growing our footfall and continuing to attract world-class brands to our ever-expanding offering, which draws thousands of people of all ages every day to shop, eat, live, work and play.
“This summer has really demonstrated the strength of having such a diverse mixed-use offering. Every aspect of the development has seen brilliant growth over the past few months, from office leasing at 50 Electric Boulevard through to residential and retail sales.
“Each component supports and sustains the others, building on each area’s success to make Battersea Power Station one of London’s buzziest neighbourhoods.”
