Morrisons is rolling out its garden centre offer to 30 stores this month after trialling it at its revamped store in Kirkstall.

The garden centre offer utilises the outdoor areas of the shop as part of the grocer’s plans to maximise space. A spokeswoman said the move is “a further development in our non-food strategy in response to consumer demand”.
The garden centre mainly stocks plants, while also offering complementary products such as compost, plant food and bark chips.
The roll-out is being handled by trades specialist director Tim Robinson. The spokeswoman said: “The overall aim is to make more people aware of our exceptional value, and the quality and the range that we have available.
We hope longer term to become a destination shop for our customers’ gardening needs.”
The Kirkstall store was the first of chief executive Dalton Philips’ ‘Lab’ stores where he is trialling several different things, such as a revamped fresh food offer.
