Value fashion giant Primark has got the green light for its long-awaited flagship store on Edinburgh’s Princes Street.
Work will begin on the 75,000 sq ft store, a former Marks & Spencer building, imminently and Primark aims to begin trading by winter 2011.
The approval follows months of planning and consultation because of the high-profile location and the area’s status as a World Heritage Site.
Architects 3DReid came up with the final designs, which were shaped by Edinburgh Council’s “string of pearls” framework for Princes Street, which divides it into blocks of retail, leisure and cultural activities.
