Topshop and Topman are set to launch on Fifth Avenue in New York this autumn with a giant flagship store.
The store will cover 40,000 sq ft which will be the brands’ second largest store behind the fashion giant’s London Oxford Street store which stands at 90,000 sq ft.
The Manhattan store will be located on a corner site adjacent to the famous Rockefeller Centre.
Sir Philip Green, owner of Topshop and Topman parent company Arcadia said: “I am very excited about Fifth Avenue, having looked for a location there for many years, and I believe this corner is both hugely prominent and perfectly located for our brands.”
Arcadia is planning to open another four stores in the US, with joint Topman and Topshop shops planned for San Diego, Houston and Atlanta and a standalone store in Springfield, Washington.
The brands already operate four stores in the US and has tied up with Nordstrom to operate shop-in-shops in their stores. By spring it will have installed Topshop in 52 Nordstrom shops and Topman into 55.
Green added: “Following the investment of Leonard Green & Partners in December 2012, it was always our plan to significantly expand Topshop and Topman in the USA, and their input and expertise within this market has been very welcome.
“In addition to our flagship stores expansion, we are continually developing our topshop.com and topman.com websites.”
Leonard Green & Partners acquired a 25% stake in Topshop and Topman last year.
Topman and Topshop also plans to grow its franchise stores internationally with 15 stores in eight countries including Russia, Turkey and Vietnam. The brand opened 80 stores in 13 countries last year, including Australia, Brazil and Hong Kong.
In April, Kate Moss is scheduled to return to Topshop with a new collection designed by the supermodel.
