Superdrug has returned to profit in the year to December 25, 2010, by improving margins and reducing operating costs.
Superdrug reported a pre-tax profit of £9.3m, against a loss of £243,000 the year before. At operating level, it reported profit up from £6m to £15.2m.
Sales were flat at £1.1bn.
In documents filed at Companies House, Superdrug said it had continued to provide the customer with everyday accessible beauty at value prices. It said the business will continue with its strategy of ‘Take Another Look at Superdrug’, looking at both store environment, products and services.
It said it will also continue to develop its online retailing.
