Superdrug has unveiled a new-format store as part of its£23 million investment to bring fashion-focused health services to the high street.
The Superdrug Health pharmacy store in Brighton bears a green version of the retailer’s new pink fascia, which is being rolled out to 150 stores.
The pilot store offers what the retailer has dubbed “fashionable pharmacy” healthcare services, which range from botox injections and lip plumping to microdermabrasion and mole clinics.
A Superdrug spokeswoman said the health store provides a blueprint for a destination store that is focused on services. It is unclear whether the format will be rolled out further.
In May, the retailer unveiled a£23 million cash injection to launch Superdrug’s beauty services in 150 stores, which will be made over with pink fascias, over the next two years.
The roll-out of the next-generation pink stores follows a successful pilot at Superdrug’s Uxbridge outlet, which recorded high single-digit like-for-like growth during a 10-month trial.
It has opened seven pink fascia stores, including at MetroCentre in Gateshead, which was due to open today and in Milton Keynes, where the first in-store fashionable pharmacy format was unveiled last week.
Stores in Newcastle, Bromley and Thurrock are next in line for the pink treatment.
Last month, Euan Sutherland, chief executive of parent AS Watson’s health and beauty divisions in the UK, said it would double a£46 million investment earmarked to expand its cosmetics business.
