Strikes end as grocer agrees to talks with TGWU
Tesco delivery drivers who took part in a three-day strike earlier this month have prevented further industrial action by agreeing to new working conditions.

A spokesman for Tesco said: 'All the drivers have signed to the new terms and conditions. The decision on whether to have one-on-one consultations with staff about the new centre was entirely up to them. I suspect that their decision comes because they have realised that, contrary to what their union told them, there is no Tesco conspiracy against them and that they are not going to lose money.'

Tesco drivers suspended a second strike last week after management at the retailer offered to begin talks with the Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU).

According to the TGWU, the retail giant had told drivers at Livingston, near Edinburgh, they had to sign to new terms or face losing their jobs after news emerged that the depot is moving to a new location 500 yards away.

Union leaders had warned Tesco that the dispute could escalate to a national ballot if nothing was agreed upon.
