Amazon has come under fire as its Black Friday Christmas deals sold out within seconds.
The Advertising Standards Authority said it was poised to investigate complaints from thousands of UK shoppers, according to the Daily Mail.
The etail giant had heavily promoted a weeks-worth of offers, with up to 70% off best selling items such as Nintendo Wii and TVs, kicking off on Black Friday – the day after Thanksgiving in the US and the day that Christmas shopping traditionally begins.
However, with some deals selling out within seconds some customers have claimed the sale backfired and have called for an investigation. Customers complained on online forums yesterday that bargains were disappearing faster than the click of a mouse.
Amazon had warned customers that it was offering “Lightning Deals” before the promotion began, and said it had warned customers that the deals would run for a short time.
