Consumer confidence has inched up ahead of Christmas

Consumer confidence has increased by one point in December, but the public are still cautious about the economic outlook and spending big money.

The overall index score grew by one point to -17 in December, with two measures up from November while three were unchanged, according to the latest GfK consumer confidence survey.
