Debenhams has poached Argos ecommerce boss Ross Clemmow to replace Simon Forster who exited late last year.
Clemmow, divisional trading director for ecommerce and multichannel strategy at Argos will join the department store in June. He takes on the role of divisional trading director for ecommerce
Forster left Debenhams, where he had been for three years, in December to head up Selfridges’ multichannel department.
Clemmow has been in charge of Argos’ multichannel strategy since late 2011.
Multichannel is a key part of Debenhams chief executive Michael Sharp’s growth plan for the department store. Over Christmas its online sales rocketed 39%, trading ahead of expectations. The channel accounts for 12.6% of Debenhams’ sales.
