In the 26 weeks to 25 September 2004 the retailer's group pre- tax profits rose to£28.1 million, from£20.3 million the year before.
Total retail revenues grew by 22.5 per cent to£491.4 million and like for like sales showed growth of 11.7 per cent.
The retailer closed 21 stores in the period but opened 136, taking the total estate to 1,329 outlets.
Chief executive Charles Dunstone said: 'Carphone Warehouse has delivered another good set of results, reflecting our focus on choice, service and value to our customers, the buoyant mobile market and the success of our fixed line services. We are building on these positions through our on-going store opening programme, through this week's launch of a broadband service, and by offering better service and value than ever.'
