Mark Wright is expected to start the new role at the end of October

Retail Week understands that Wright, who left Fat Face this week, is expected to start the new role at the end of October, coinciding with the departure of current boss Gwynn Milligan.

Milligan has been with the business for more than seven years and was named chief executive in April 2022. The reason for her departure remains unclear.

Fat Face announced that Wright was leaving the business earlier this year and said he was expected to oversee the retailer’s transition, following its acquisition by Next, before pursuing “opportunities outside of Fat Face”.

In a LinkedIn post announcing his departure from Fat Face earlier this week, Wright said he felt “privileged” to have worked for the fashion retailer and thanked chief executive Will Crumbie and former CEO Liz Evans for their support during his time at the company.

Wright said he had “planned a break” but confirmed he was starting a new role at the end of October.

Both JoJo Maman Bébé and Fat Face are now owned by fashion giant Next, having been acquired in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Retail Week has approached JoJo Maman Bébé and Next for comment.
