Fashion retailer Quiz’s chief financial officer and company secretary is exiting the business.
Quiz announced in a statement to the City today that Gerard Sweeney has confirmed his intention to step down from his role at the retailer.
Sweeney exits the business after more than eight years at Quiz, having joined in September 2016.
Quiz confirmed he will remain with the group until March 31 for a “smooth transition of responsibilities to his successor” to take place.
While a replacement is yet to be named, Quiz said the recruitment process is underway and an update will be shared when appropriate.
Sweeney said: “After more than eight years in the role, I felt that now is the right time to step back and consider new opportunities.
“I firmly believe in Quiz’s turnaround potential under the leadership of Sheraz [Ramzan, chief executive] and that the business will return to profitable growth.
“It has been a pleasure to work with the rest of the board and broader Quiz team since 2016. I remain fully committed to the business over the coming months and ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities in due course.”
Quiz chief executive Sheraz Ramzan said: “On behalf of everyone at Quiz I would like to thank Gerry for his commitment and valued input over the past eight years.
“Whilst Gerry will continue in his role over the coming months while we search for a successor, we wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”
The news follows Quiz’s “disappointing” results for the year to March 31, 2024, which saw its revenue drop 10.6% year on year from £91.7m to £82m.
The fashion retailer also reported a loss before tax of £6.7m for the year, whlie its EBITDA also dipped from £6.2m to £0.9m.
Quiz is focused on a turnaround strategy following the strategic review of the business earlier this year which saw Ramzan take over as CEO.
Recently the board said it is “confident” in the strategy and believes Quiz will return to growth in the medium term.
