SuperGroup like-for-like sales jumped 5.8% over in the nine weeks to January 1.
In December alone, like-for-likes soared 9.3%.
Total retail sales leaped 28% to £66m and group sales rose 22% to £79m. The surge follows Supergroup’s warehouse issues, which it revealed in October, which hindered both the amount of stock and range of sizes reaching its stores. The fault is expected to hit profits by £6m to £9m.
The young fashion group, which operates Superdry and Cult, did see a downturn in wholesale sales which dropped 4% which it said reflected different phasing of supplier deliveries as well as the natural migration of UK sales to its growing number of owned stores.
SuperGroup chief executive Julian Dunkerton said:“We are pleased to report a solid Christmas period when set against the difficult economic climate, our own distribution issues in the autumn and our exceptionally strong Christmas sales last year.”
