N Brown to extend national living wage to under-25s

Etailer N Brown has pledged to pay the new National Living Wage to those under 25 years old.

The online fashion business, which owns JD Williams, Simply Be and Jacamo brands, has said it will pay all of its 2,800 UK staff at least £7.20 per hour from April 1.

N Brown Group’s people director Caroline Massingham said: “We’re applying the National Living Wage to all of our employees, regardless of age, as ultimately we think this is the right thing to do.

“The changes affect 262 of our colleagues from today (1 April), however that will increase over the next four years as the government aims for its £9 an hour target by 2020.”

Grocery prices drop in March as supermarkets intensified range war

Grocery prices fell for the fourth consecutive month in March as supermarket giants fired a range war.

The cost of a basket of 35 popular grocery items, including vegetables, crisps and pasta, has slipped to their lowest recorded level since December 2014, costing £84.36 last month against £87.70 in March 2015, according to mySupermarket.co.uk.

The biggest price decline was from broccoli, which dropped 25% in the last month alone, bananas which were down 8% and crisps, which fell 4%, found the shopping and comparison website’s analysis.
